This home was transformed into an office block in 1937 to serve as the Kuala Terengganu Islamic Affair Department until 1938. From 1946 until 1979, it housed the Kuala Terengganu Municipal Council. The Terengganu government donated this home to the Malaysian Historical Society (Terengganu Branch) in 1986.

Malaysia Heritage Department renovated this house in 2009 to restore its original construction. During the same year, this structure was designated as a heritage structure from the government.
